DTI Iligan briefs newcomer stores on consumer welfare desk

ILIGAN CITY --The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Lanao del Norte Provincial Office recently held briefings on Consumer Welfare Desk (CWD) and  Frontline Service  for newcomer stores at its office in Pala-o, Iligan City.

In attendance were 25 representatives from the different business establishments in Iligan.

DTI Provincial Director Ruel B. Paclipan said that CWD and Frontline Service briefings provide valuable lessons to business establishments on the importance of having a consumer welfare desk that ultimately gives impact on sales generation, and augment the level of awareness on consumerism.

CWD with quality frontline helps create healthy and harmonious business environment, and transforms management values from reactive response to proactive mode, Paclipan added.

Engr. Elvira G. Redublado, Consumer Welfare Division Chief, discussed the Consumer Rights and Responsibilities, Consumer Act of the Philippines and other Fair Trade Laws.

Also included in the presentations were topics on Insights on Handling Complaints, Consumer Welfare Desk Operations, Bagwis Program and the Provision of Quality Frontline Service for customers’ delight.

CWD is a self-policing mechanism which addresses consumer complaints at the level of the business establishment without going through the tedious mediation process at appropriate government agency. It also responds to queries from the buying public like location of goods in shelves for ease in shopping. (PIA-10)
