Iligan briefs newcomer stores on consumer welfare desk
ILIGAN
CITY --The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Lanao del Norte Provincial
Office recently held briefings on Consumer Welfare Desk (CWD) and Frontline Service for newcomer stores at its office in Pala-o,
Iligan City.
In
attendance were 25 representatives from the different business establishments
in Iligan.

Provincial Director Ruel B. Paclipan said that CWD and Frontline Service
briefings provide valuable lessons to business establishments on the importance
of having a consumer welfare desk that ultimately gives impact on sales
generation, and augment the level of awareness on consumerism.
CWD
with quality frontline helps create healthy and harmonious business environment,
and transforms management values from reactive response to proactive mode,
Paclipan added.
Engr.
Elvira G. Redublado, Consumer Welfare Division Chief, discussed the Consumer
Rights and Responsibilities, Consumer Act of the Philippines and other Fair Trade
Laws.
Also
included in the presentations were topics on Insights on Handling Complaints,
Consumer Welfare Desk Operations, Bagwis Program and the Provision of Quality
Frontline Service for customers’ delight.
CWD
is a self-policing mechanism which addresses consumer complaints at the level
of the business establishment without going through the tedious mediation
process at appropriate government agency. It also responds to queries from the
buying public like location of goods in shelves for ease in shopping. (PIA-10)
