Aldong says shabu-crazed addict started fire in Lawis

OZAMIZ CITY: A man suspected of being a crystal meth (shabu) addict and who have become crazy was the cause of the fire the other day in Barangay Sta. Cruz, new information reaching Misamis News Digest said.

Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr., who withheld the man’s name, is said to be fuming with anger over the fire incident last Thursday Jan.15, said his Information Officer Elena Pelare.

According to the fire department, the fire burned some 42 houses in Bliss, a housing project of then Human Settlements Minister Imelda Marcos in the 80s.

The mayor declared in last Monday’s flag ceremony at the City Hall that he already knows for sure any fire history of Sta. Cruz and its adjacent village, Baybay San Roque should there be any fire occurrence in the mentioned barangays.

Baybay San Roque, an outlying area, has a mix development of modern and rural urban structures made of light materials, concrete and wood.

Both barangays has an estimated population of 7,000 dwellers.

Parojinog said fires in the mentioned villages are caused either by illegal tapping of electricity, a form of theft that results in MOELCI-2’s repeated assertion of their systems loss, and shabu use.

The mayor said he has ordered Sta. Cruz chieftain Daisy P. Salas, his younger sister, and Sta. Cruz head Rizalina O. Francisco, his aunt, to stop drug dealing in both barangays, especially shabu.
