CITY: The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) said the Sangguniang
Kabataan (SK) elections is this coming Feb. 21, after Comelec reset the October
28, 2013 polls.
The
October 2013 SK polls was supposed to be done simultaneously with the Sangguniang
Barangay (SB) elections, DILG provincial director Sanivier G. Patoc, said but
was postponed by Congress.
Particularly,
RA 10632 amended RA 9340, which provides that “the SK elections on October 28,
2013 shall be postponed to a date to be determined by the Comelec between
October 28, 2014 and February 23, 2015, DILG said.
Meanwhile, Patoc said “no hold over” positions
of the SK officials were granted, as the term of all incumbent SK officials
expired at noon of Nov. 30, 2013.
On
the other hand, RA 10632 provides that “no appointment” were made to the
vacated positions, as all the SK positions remained vacant until the new set of
officials shall have been duly elected and qualified, Patuc said. (with reports from PIA)
