AFP, PNP strengthen media venture in MisOc

TANGUB CITY: The newly organized Misamis Occidental AFP-PNP Press Corps (MOAFPHIL) gets a big boost of congratulations by the 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division.

The MOAFPHIL was initiated and organized by the 55th IB, through Col. Gerry Besana, and the Misamis Occidental Police Provincial Office (MOPPO), presently under  S/Supt. Archivald Macala, as its sounding board in making its contributions to the public known.

In partnering with the media, news and information for other outside media, press, journalists, publications and others interested will be made known likewise all avenues of communication.

During the induction program here at the Tangub City Function Hall, BGen. Apolinario Alobba read Tabak commander BGen. Gerardo Barrientos Jr.’s message recognizing the role of the organization as a link between and among the local media, the AFP and the PNP in the province.

Barrientos also acknowledged media’s resourcefulness as this will truly help in the implementation of Internal Peace and Security Plan (IPSP) “Bayanihan”.

The IPSP emphasizes the primary focus of the military that the conduct of its operations is “winning the peace and not just defeating the enemy.”

The AFP’s approach in implementing the IPSP is to touch base with the people and this effort needs the connection of the media as a stakeholder in nation building.

Such initiative is important, Barrientos said, for this demonstrates a solid partnership of all parties involved and thus help promote the ideals, vision and mission of the AFP and PNP.

With this interaction, there is likewise a need for recognizing and respecting each other’s responsibilities, he explained, even with the variation of everybody’s duties.

The Tabak commander said he is optimistic that the tri-fold partnership will continue to be present, with its desire to faithfully and selflessly serve the people, and in the end will do an impression to other media practitioners.
