Binay pays quick visit in Zambosur, Sibugay

PAGADIAN CITY: Beleaguered with corruption scandal left and right didn’t stop Vice President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay from visiting this city last Thursday for a weekend appointment with his Alpha Phi Omega (APO) brod, Gov. Antonio Cerilles.

Actually, Binay’s visit is to share out wheelchairs and medical equipment in the nearby Zamboanga Sibugay province.

Cerilles, along with Romeo Pulmones, brought Binay after`his arrival in the morning at the airport to the public market for a boodle fight breakfast together with other officials in the city, barangay and the market vendors association.

APO fraternity members and Boy Scout of the Philippines (BSP)-Zamboanga del Sur-Pagadian City Council likewise joined the feast.

In his meeting with the vendors group, the vice president told them they can avail of the affordable housing assistance program of the government.

The vice president concurrently is serving as chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDC) and is the president, in his third term, of the BSP.

The 72-year old Binay then went to the Molave town where he met with the other executives of the province and went back here in the afternoon for a meeting with scout officials.

The ex-Makati mayor was the guest speaker in the induction ceremony of the APO fraternity, Thursday evening, before proceeding to Zamboanga Sibugay province.

Binay’s media representative John Maguad told local reporters the VP distributed wheelchairs and medical equipment to senior citizens in Kabasalan, Zambo Sibugay.

The VP-lawyer, according to Maguad, also visited Buug, Naga and Imelda.

The former MMDA chief is widely considered to be the frontrunner among presidential candidates for the general election in 2016.
