53rd IB troopers finish disaster training in Zambosur



PAGADIAN CITY: A total of 40 soldiers from the 53rd IB recently finished their 20-day Disaster Response Operations Training (DROT) training in this province.

Of the total number, four were military officers and the rest were enlisted personnel, Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Alvin Luzon said.

Their training was held in different locations such as Camp David Sabido, 53rd IB’s headquarters in Guipos, Tukuran beach and at the Gavenia Building here last Oct. 6 to 27 and involved first aid and basic life support, actual rescue and disaster relief operations.

The training is to give the soldiers competency in the knowledge of immediate response operations during disasters, management and combat operations, added Luzon.

The soldiers will soon become the ready response team should there be disasters and natural calamities happening elsewhere.

The said training was also supported by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management council (PDRRMC), Bureau of fire Protection, Office of Civil Defense, PNRC-Pagadian City-Zamboanga del Sur Council.
