PAGADIAN
CITY: Police Provincial Director S/Supt. Sofronio Ecaldre said the observance
of the All Souls as normally peaceful and quiet with no unpleasant incidents reported
due to security measures jointly implemented by the military and LGUs.
Ecaldre
added the PNP raised a red alert since Friday until Monday to make sure the
people going to and fro the cemeteries are protected.
Random
checking of passersby was likewise made by the Provincial Public Safety
Battalion in the national highway along the boundaries of Misamis Occidental, Lanao
Norte, Zambonorte and Zambo Sibugay.
This
was also implemented at the Integrated Bus Terminals (IBT), public markets, shopping
malls and in coastal areas.
Police
Public Assistance Center in both public and private cemeteries made easy coordination
with the PDRRMC and the Barangay Emergency Response Team (BERT), he said.
Ecaldre
said that the PNP put into operation tight security re-routing of all public
utility and private vehicles entering Paglaum, Sta. Maria and Tuburan on the
way to the Public Cemetery and Memorial Garden.
The
city government also provided multi-cab vehicles offering free rides within the
vicinity of Public Cemetery and Memorial Garden because PUJs were not allowed
within the area.
As
for the fire department, no fire incidents were reported.
For
himself, city police chief Supt. Glenn Dulawan said the PNP Public Assistance
Center only “manageable” problems such as missing graves in the public cemetery.
Dulawan
added it was only on Monday that two drunk suspects were arrested and detained
because of aggressive fighting with each other.
