Roving academy set for MSMEs

PAGADIAN CITY: A grand launching of the Consumers Roving Academy (CRA) will be held here next week by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), information reaching Misamis News Digest said.

The CRA will include micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) all over Zamboanga Peninsula, DTI OIC-Regional Director Sitti Amina Jain said.

The SRA is scheduled Nov. 10 to 14 and will be one of the banner projects of DTI in bringing its programs closer to clients.

The CRA, according to DTI, aims to safeguard consumer rights by imparting consumer education through advocacy campaigns, regular monitoring of establishments, and facilitating resolution of consumer complaints.

The CRA is being initiated by DTI to also heighten consumer awareness and responsibilities and for business to undertake customer-centered operation.

Participants will be taught on components traceability of food to ensure good quality of the products, exporting to Asean Economic Community, and Rubber Quality Improvement, Jain added.

She said the participants of the SRA will be from the food industry, rubber processors, and potential exporters.

Jain said the SRA will start on Nov. 10 in Dipolog and   Zamboanga del Norte and will continue the next day in Pagadian and Zamboanga del Sur; in Ipil and Zamboanga Sibugay on Wednesday, in Zamboanga City on Thursday and will return to Dipolog on Nov. 14.

In Misamis Occidental, the CRA grand launching was made last October 27.

The CRA in Misoc included DTI’s “Bagwis” program, product standards, consumer welfare desk, fair trade laws, “diskwento” caravan, and consumer complaints and procedures.
