PAGADIAN
CITY: The Fire department says it tallied none at all for fires related to firecrackers
or pyrotechnics in last New Year’s Eve revelry.
There
was in December, but Fire Marshall S/Insp. Reggy Olmedo said the three fire
incidents here were not firecracker-related.
Olmedo
said BFP’s strict implementation of fire safety awareness and prevention drive drove
the message home to residents’ consciousness.
He
also thanked the public for supporting their campaign, helping BFP achieve their
goal of making a fire-safe city during the holidays.
Aside
from fire truck visibility and fire safety prevention tips through its built-in
public address system, the BFP has also held a radio program and distributed
fire prevention pamphlets from Dec. 16, last year to Jan. 1, 2015.
Olmedo
hopes this will become a good practice in the coming months.
It
can be recalled, in 2013, a fire believed caused by firecrackers burned a house
right at the back of the BFP station here.
