PNP says New year celebration in NorMin ‘generally peaceful’


Cagayan de Oro CITY: Crime situation in Region-10 is “generally peaceful” in the year-end period with no significant incident transpired, the PNP reports.


A full alert status has been observed earlierby the PNP due to the influx of people and observance of New Year celebration, but the region remained peaceful, said P/Supt. Gervacio O. Balmaceda Jr., PRO-10 spokesperson.

The PNP as directed all unit commanders to properly supervise their men in the different police operations and activities.

The crime incidents in this period reduced compared to last year including injuries due to firecrackers as police maximized their effort in arresting firecrackers and pyrotechnics illegally proliferated.

Balmaceda added there was no report of indiscriminate firing of firearms and related incidents have been reported.

The PNP Region-10 continued implementing its Police Integrated Patrol System (PIPS) which covers different police operations programs that addresses crime situation in the different areas.

The PNP says it is grateful to the public for their support, as it promised to enhance its police community relations and increase their activities with the cooperation of the public.
